Fifty-nine years of beef production is a milestone by anyone's measure. We're truly blessed to be among the dwindling few family-owned ranches that work every day to contribute to the beef industry. This year, we experienced record warm temperatures, outstanding chicken fried steak and Randy Blach! CattleFax CEO Randy Blach joined us Friday evening and gave a frank and factual "state of the industry" presentation to the crowd.
Saturday began with a record crowd of bidders and buyers. As the gavel fell on the last lot, buyers from 12 states had helped to make the 2017 sale one of the best ever at Bradley 3 Ranch.
Top selling bull was Lot 44, B3R C082 Elector A229 2011. He's a top 1% calving ease with an ADG of 5.26. He sold for $20,000. Second high selling bull was Lot 26, B3R C135 Stkmn Pnr Wve A185. C135 is another top CED sire with +1 marbling. He sold for $15,000.
We had exceptional interest in our Charolais offering this year. Lot 23, B3R C021 Blanco Std 3472U13 was the high selling Charolais bull. This fall bull earned top percentile rankings in the Charolais breed. He's a top 5% for WW, top 2% for YW, top 1% for carcass weight, top 20% for marbling and top 1% for ribeye. He sold for $8,000.
We are grateful for all in attendance. Whether you were a bidder or a buyer, we appreciate your interest in Bradley 3 Ranch. Next year, 2018, will mark our 60th year of continuous beef cattle production. We encourage you to mark Saturday, February 10, 2018, on your calendars now and join us for our 60th anniversary celebration.
